Changing up the Ballerina Bun

Once the ballerina bun has been mastered, it can be fun to play around and find new ways to change up the classic look.  To add a little bit of bohemian style to the simple bun, we introduce the french braid bun.

The Braided Bun

Nearly every celebrity has been photographed sporting a variation of the braided bun.  Most recently Charlize Theron and Emma Stone were photographed on the red carpet of the golden globes sporting the braided bun.  The braided bun is a versatile style that combine romance and sophistication into one hairdo.

This braided bun can be worn casually for everyday activities or for a girls night out on the town.  No matter your destination this up-do is insured to make every girl jealous of your celebrity inspired hairstyle.  One of the beauties in the braided bun is that is looks difficult but is actually pretty simple to achieve if you follow these few steps.

1. Brush out dry hair so it is knot free and easy to work with.
2. Put your hair in a half up/half-down hair-do using a small elastic (either brush the top smooth or leave it a little messy depending on how you want your hair to look when the style is complete) (**Tip- using the minimum amount of hair on top works best because the under will be used for the braid)
3. Flip your head over and french braid from the base of your neck to the top of your head
4. Take the hair you are left with and twist into a bun. Secure with an elastic and bobby pins to your liking.

Just a few extra tips!
  • For knotty hair, spray Tomy B. Leave-In Detangler and brush through hair before you begin.
  • For extra hold use a small amount of Tomy B. Calm Re-Texture Cream and brush through hair before you begin.
  • For extra shine use Tomy B. Finishing Serum and brush through hair before you begin.
